Question: How long does a filling live?

Answer:

A filling is exposed to increased mechanical load, influence of saliva and mouth cavity micriflora, temperature change (cold and hot food). So you cannot have one and the same filling during all your life. Microcracks appear between the filling and the tooth, which leads to caries even if the filling is safe. That is why even a “good and safe” filling should be changed in 5 – 7 years.
