14.11.07: The “Maternity Model” Has Been Created

Scientists of Fuqua business school of Duke University created a logic model, which helps women to decide when to give birth to a baby. The model takes into consideration woman’s career, social and family life aspirations, her age and risk of giving birth to a sick child.

"Such decision may be too difficult for a woman to estimate all the factors by herself. Many people find this question very important and cannot rely on feelings only, “ – the model authors Professor Ralph Keeney and Dinah Vernik state. Their work, published in the  Decision Analysis magazine, shows that while taking decisions about giving birth to a child many women do not consider many factors. The model is illustrated by various situations.

The model shows that in many cases maternity planning at the stage of graduating from university of starting to work does not interfere with successful career of the woman.
