Pre-Adoption Help

Recently Russians tend to adopt more children. The number of couples wishing to become parents of an orphan is increasing. Some families adopt several children. We do understand that adoption is not only a noble action; to welcome an orphan into the family and bring him up is a rather complicated issue.

In our clinic we created a program of help to future parents, based on the best of the world’s experience. It prepares couples for adoption, makes the process of child’s adaptation harmonious.

Rather often perspective foster parents prefer to go to a clinic than to a social institution due to the fact that medicine presupposes confidentiality. American Medical Center employs Pediatricians, Specialists on Children Development, Genetics, as well as Medical Psychologists.  We are ready to offer help considering demands of each particular client. We have the following programs:

  

1. Informational And Psychological Preparation For Adoption (For Parents):

- Information about age peculiarities of orphans, risk evaluation (risks connected with orphan’s age and life story);

- Information about psychological peculiarities of an orphan; preparation for peculiar reaction of an orphan in new conditions;

- Information about widely spread medical problems of orphans and evaluation of risks, connected with adoption, depending on the diagnosis of the child;

- Psychological testing of perspective parents, assistance in solving arising questions.

 2. Informational And Consultation Assistance To Parents In The Process Of Adoption:

- Analysis of orphan’s pre-existing history, evaluation of risks, connected with particular medical file.  Recommendation on further investigations (in case of necessity) in order to reveal the orphan’s medical status;

- Orphan check-up in our facility, recommendations on further investigations (including genetic analysis in case of necessity), genetic investigations in our facility. In case the adoption procedure is performed far from Moscow and the child cannot be delivered to our facility for the check-up, foster parents may get such recommendations based on the analysis of video and photo materials;

3. Doctor’s Help After The Adoption:

- Check-ups performed by the Pediatrician, Psychologist and Specialists on Development Correction. Recommendations on tests;

- Consultation of Medical Psychologist for parents;

- Individual program of psychological correction for an orphan;

- Standard control over the condition of child’s health and treatment, considering his pre-existing condition and peculiarities of development.
