Physical Therapy
Physiotherapy – is a form of treatment which uses different physical factors like manual treatment, massage, ultrasound, electrotherapy, magnetic fields, lasers, heat, cold, etc.) Climatotherapy, hydrotherapy, thalassotherapy, treatment with ozon, aerotherapy- they all are also considered to be part of physiotherapy. Currently the physical methods are attracting more and more interest in medicine because of some obvious advantages: there are no resistance, almost no side effects, and no allergic or toxic reactions which may limit their use. There is no possibility of falsification (which is very important). Mechanism of action of physical factors primarily is a body’s own regulatory processes normalization. Physiotherapy may be used as isolated treatment or as a conjunction to pharmacotherapy.
There is some discrepancy between understanding the term “Physiotherapy” in Russian and Western medicine. Traditionally, Russian specialists use the whole spectrum of physical factors, when for western patients physiotherapy is mainly combination of manual therapy, massage and exercise therapy. There is couple of more differences: in Russia physiotherapy is being used in all medical specialties and subspecialties, although western physiotherapy mainly concentrates on treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions.
In our center we combine the best from these two conceptions: our doctors have specialization in traditional physiotherapy as well as in physical rehabilitation (but all are MDs). From one point of view, we have a completely equipped department for traditional physiotherapy, and we can offer an optimal treatment for almost any medical pathology, in spite of stage, concurrent pathology and patient’s age. From the other point of view, our specialists with their precise knowledge of joint’s biomechanics and muscle group interactions can recognize and treat many special musculoskeletal problems.
