Vasiliy Dan
Professor, a Surgeon of the Highest Qualification, the Leading Specialist in Vascular Angiology and Vascular Surgery in Russia
Performs almost all reconstructive surgeries on Brachiocephalic arteries, thoracic and abdominal aorta, visceral arteries, arteries of lower extremities. Prof. Dan has been interested in the subject of chronic venous insufficiency during the whole period of his surgical career.
Prof. Dan has the largest experience not only in our country but also in the whole world in treating patients with congenital vascular diseases of various localizations. He formulated the main principles and methods of performing endovascular occlusion of adducent arteries, treatment of bleeded arteriovenous angiodysplasias. Hydrogel emboluses for performing medical embolization were developed under Prof. Dan’s direction. Prof. Dan proved the tactics of angiodysplasias combination therapy, which is the principal method of treating patients with this pathology at the present moment. Prof. Dan is the author of more than 335 scientific studies, including 2 chapters in monographs, 2 manual guidances, 2 scientific films, 50 foreign publications, 3 inventor’s certificates. Co-author of the monograph “Neck chemodectomas” (2005). Prof. Dan is the secretary of the Russian society of angiologists and vascular surgeons, member of the European society of vascular surgeons, specialized academic councils of the Institute of surgery named after A.V. Vishnevskiy (Russian Academy of Medical Sciences), member of the editorial board of the journal “Angiology and vascular surgery”.
